Comfort is Key in Hotel Industry Charles E. Jarrell Contracting understands that comfort is key for any hotel. In St. Louis, the hospitality industry is very competitive. It is the second largest industry, adding more than $2 billion annually to the region according to the St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association. To draw repeat hotel business, among many variables, the HVAC systems must be reliable and provide a comfortable experience for guests.

For this reason, many hotel developers rely on Charles E. Jarrell Contracting for HVAC design/build and service.

Traveling through the past three decades Jarrell has earned respect in the hotel industry for providing reliable, cost-effective mechanical services for many successful hotels.

For example, Jarrell Contracting worked with White Development in 1970 to build The Sheraton West Port Hotel and Lakeside Chalet. Together these hotels would pioneer the start of a major new hospitality complex.

Checking into the '90s, Jarrell Contracting supplied HVAC design/build experience for the new Drury Inn Creve Coeur hotel in west St. Louis. Also, when Drury Inn and Suites moved to save the International Fur Building from the wrecking ball they again chose Jarrell Contracting for their vast design/build and renovation experience.

Jarrell Contracting worked with developer Don Breckenridge on yet another major renovation project. This time, Jarrell is supplying HVAC design/build services, as well as plumbing for the renovation of the Sheraton/Edison Brothers building in downtown St. Louis.

Sheraton West Port Lakeside Chalet

Jarrell provided design/build HVAC service for White Development’s first and largest full service hotels in west St. Louis. Today, more than 30 years later, the Sheraton West Port Hotel Plaza Tower and Lakeside Chalet continue to rely on Jarrell’s service department to maintain the hotel complex with more than 500 rooms, 15 luxury suites, indoor pools, and banquet, restaurant and meeting facilities.
Drury Plaza Hotel in St. Louis

The Drury Plaza Hotel is one of St. Louis’ largest hotel renovation projects. This award-winning renovation project also is the largest hotel in the Drury Inn and Suites national chain of more than 100 hotels. The challenge was to combine the International Fur Exchange, built in 1919, with two more historical buildings thus creating one spacious hotel with 365 rooms, an indoor pool, meeting rooms, restaurants and an enclosed garage.

Jarrell worked directly with the owner, engineers and architects to supply efficient and cost-effective HVAC solutions to the project. The completed building earned Druco Development Co. the distinguished top honor for the Most Enhanced Sites Awards from the Landmark Association of St. Louis in 1999. The hotel operates with 384 self-contained water-source heat pumps for the rooms, and a direct-digital energy management system for the public areas and primary utility rooms. Some other details include reconditioned fluid coolers and separate roof top equipment that supplies constant fresh air to the corridors and the lobby areas without sacrificing energy.

Estimated at $62 million, this project includes a 228- room Sheraton Suites hotel, fitness center, 80 luxury condos and secured parking all inside the one-million-square-foot building. Jarrell is providing full-service mechanical support with design/build service for HVAC and plumbing.
